Menstruation is a natural part of female reproductive cycle, but in India talking about it is still a taboo.Menstruating women and girls are mostly considered as impure and dirty in many parts of our country. Thus most often the menstrual health and hygiene get ignored. Due to lack of awareness and poverty many women don't use sanitary pads, instead they use rags or dirty old clothes. Thus incidents of reproductive tract infections are very common among these women and girls.Around 23 million girls drop out of the school every year. Most of these girls are scared, due to fear of getting judged by society and unavailability of sanitary pads. Manaswini has organized sanitary pads distribution drive at Bharat vidyalaya Ramnagar.Around 150 girls took advantage of this project, Anindita Roy created awareness about "Menstrual health & hygiene" d uring her speech. Program was followed by distributing snacks to all the school girls.
